设计灵感源于好莱坞大道和卡亨加大道的历史，这里曾是保罗·德隆普雷（Paul Delongpre）的宅邸所在，Musso&Frank Grill餐厅内部木板装饰画展示的“旧时好莱坞”景象，即在Intelligentsia咖啡店的西侧。德隆普雷是一位以在中性背景上绘制花卉而闻名的艺术家，他的宅邸即位于此处的广阔花园中。过程中，团队翻看了旧时明信片以及庄园花田的照片，由此产生了用彩色马赛克瓷砖呈现一幅抽象罂粟花田的想法。与此同时，团队还翻阅了德隆普雷的画作，试图将他的精神融入在空间设计中。最终，运用马赛克瓷砖装饰拱形天花板，而画作则成为室外入口空间印制墙画的灵感来源。
The design is inspired by the history of the Hollywood Blvd. and Cahuenga site, which was formerly the estate of Paul Delongpre, and the wood-paneled “old Hollywood” interior of the Musso & Frank Grill, just west of the Intelligentsia location. DeLongpre was an artist famous for his paintings of flowers on neutral backgrounds, and his mansion was situated in expansive flower gardens on the site. We looked at old postcards and images of the fields of flowers on the property, and came to the idea of using colored mosaic tiles as abstract poppy fields. At the same time we looked at DeLongpre’s paintings, to bring something of his spirit into the space. The mosaic tiles became the vaulted ceiling, and the paintings inspires the stenciled wall painting in the outdoor entry space.

在拥有丰富空间纹理的情况下，设计团队维持了简单的内部结构。项目通过一处内置水磨石长凳及花坛的室外露台进入。花卉图案妆点了整面露台西侧墙面，并使用定制的嵌入式照明装饰天花板空间。
While the space is rich in texture, we kept its organization very simple. The space is entered through an outdoor patio lined with terrazzo benches with integral flower beds. The flower motif wall graphic covers the west wall of the patio, and custom recessed lighting adorns the ceiling.

咖啡店内部，内墙采用深色木镶板装饰，并以不锈钢饰面板以及凹槽玻璃点缀。咖啡吧台是一个30英尺长的岛台，表面覆盖水磨石，座位的摆放则好似一个与吧台平行的地铁车厢。
Inside the coffee shop, the interior walls are paneled in dark stained wood paneling, accented by quilted stainless steel and fluted mirrors. The coffee bar is a 30 ft. long island block clad in terrazzo, and the seating is arranged like a subway car parallel to the bar.

室内天花板区域是设计团队面临的一次有趣挑战。建筑的屋顶以钢梁网格支撑，因此团队必须围绕钢梁网格开展工作。为保留梁柱之间的高天花板结构，设计团队在梁柱之间设计了一个网格拱顶，并使用彩色马赛克瓷砖随机包覆。光面材质的使用进一步增加空间的体量——瓷砖拱顶看起来好像延伸至墙壁之外。设计团队与西雅图的一家公司合作开发的定制青铜灯具，可同时照亮拱顶以及室内空间。
The interior ceiling presented an interesting challenge. The building’s roof is supported by a grid of steel beams that we had to work around. The ceiling structure was fairly high between the beams, so we wanted to capture this height. We developed a grid of arched vaults between the beams, and used colored random mosaic tiles to clad the
vaults. Mirrors are used to further increase the volume of the space –the tiled vaults seem to extend beyond the walls. We developed custom bronze light fixtures with a company in Seattle to simultaneously up-light the vaults and illuminate the space below.
